Vaccination: second dose available for Moderna and AstraZeneca

Quebecers vaccinated with Moderna or AstraZeneca products can start making an appointment for their second dose, depending on their age category.

Thus, those aged 50 and over can go to Clic Santé as of today to plan their second vaccine, as was already the case for people vaccinated with pfizer's product. Eligible groups decline by five years each day, until they reach the age of 18 on June 23. 


Quebec will receive 1.6 million doses from the manufacturer Moderna this week, 500,000 more than expected over the next two weeks. 

Moderna's vaccine is particularly used by pharmacies, due to its ease of storage.

As for AstraZeneca's vaccine, it was already available without an appointment, but will now be available by appointment. Those who wish to do so will then be able to choose another type of vaccine, if they are worried about the risks to their health with the AstraZeneca product.
To date, 700,000 people have advanced their appointment to get a second dose.
